Local Roof Material

Many coastal regions face unique challenges. In addition to the added moisture in the air, there may also be risks of hurricanes or floods. The problem homeowners face in coastal or wet climates is that increased moisture can easily damage some roof materials, leading to further problems with the roof. Mold, mildew, wood rot and water leaks are all very common problems among roofs in wet climates. So which roof material is best? Traditional asphalt shingles are an inexpensive option for high moisture areas as they are durable and resistant to mold and mildew. However, they can be easily broken by high winds, leaving the base materials susceptible to water damage. Metal roofing is a good choice for wet climates as they contain natural waterproofing abilities and are rust-resistant. A metal roof can also stand up to high winds better than an asphalt roof. Hot climates also tend to dry climates, which can be a problematic combination. High temperature also tends to mean increased exposure to the sun’s damaging rays. The heat and the UV rays together can cause bending and cracking among some roof materials.Although asphalt shingles are found in hot and dry climates, they are not always the best choice.  <

Roof Protect

When building a house, what do you consider as the most important part of the structure? Maybe you would think of walls because, honestly, without walls a building cannot stand. Some of you will think of floor but floor is built automatically when you buy a land. So when a floor is complete and walls are erected, is the structure is complete or wait! We have forgotten about the roof. Of course a building cannot be finished without a roof. We cannot live within the walls without any covering over our heads. I think it is funny to think of any home without a roof.A roof functions as a protection against all the external calamities like unlimited sunlight, rain drops falling on us while we are having dinner, a cat or dog jumping on us from walls, snowflakes making us cold, birds flying and dropping their gifts, strong winds taking all our stuff with them and so on. From cold Igloos to ancient buildings, it remains an integral part of buildings for our protection. So it must be made of strong and durable materials. It is my observation that the construction of a roof is very technical procedure which includes layering of different materials like plastic sheets and felt.  <

Roof Coating

The roof coating is the final layer to the finished construction of your roof. This is essential that when applied, it is done so correctly that it acts as a barrier for the membrane against UV rays, rain, hail and physical damage. A properly installed roof coating will be seamless and can be used to prevent and repair damage to the roof that causes leaks. It can add up to 25 years to the life of your roof and if you are facing a repair this might be the best option for you, at least, than having to replace your entire roof, which is a time consuming and costly affair. A roof coating depending on the way it is applied (cool roof coat) can be an energy efficient addition to your home, cutting the cost of your air conditioning bill.If it a small roof project that you are wishing to apply a coating to, such as a garage, shed, or out building, this can be done in as little as two day and is an easy enough DIY project. However, if you have damage to the roof of your home or an extensive leak on your house it is recommended that you hire a contractor, or other experienced professional to take on the job.  <
